Revving up for 2024
But first, a look back on an unforgettable ride through 2023.
2023 marks two decades since UVM’s Dr. John Evans had an idea to catalyze wealth and income opportunities for Vermonters through entrepreneurship. From his kitchen table on Spear Street, the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) was born. The organization soon attracted government leaders and executives in business, economic development, and higher education to champion this cause. Since that day in 2003, the entrepreneur has been our North Star, guiding and grounding us in empathy, authenticity, expertise, and trust.
So far, VCET has served over 3,300 founders, innovators, makers, scientists and students. Today, Vermont’s startup ecosystem is broader, more diverse, better funded, and more promising than ever before. It’s exciting (and humbling) for our team to play a small part in this community everyday. The momentum of founders is undeniable, but there remains much work to do. With VCET’s new capital resources, venture networks, and startup experience comes a heightened responsibility for results, impact, inclusion, and focus. So buckle up, 2024 is a time to build, and we’re just getting started.
With gratitude,
Ema, Nicole, Sam and Dave
