VCET Announces truED Partnership with Champlain College

Burlington, VT (March 28, 2022) – Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) is excited to announce a truED Partnership with Champlain College Online (CCO). Through this partnership, eligible VCET staff, coworking members, and their family members qualify for reduced tuition for more than 60 degree and certificate programs offered 100% online by the regionally accredited college.

For more than a decade, Champlain College and VCET have collaborated on entrepreneurship and innovation. Thanks to support from the Vermont Technology Council, Champlain students are eligible for free VCET coworking. VCET has also hosted and supported many faculty, student, and alumni businesses over the years including GameTheory, Rad Magpie, and Olive & Milo Social Media Marketing.

VCET Vice President Sam Roach-Gerber earned her MBA with CCO while working full time with the organization. “CCO’s MBA program was transformative. I was so grateful to find a program truly catered to working professionals,” said Roach-Gerber. “I was blown away by the depth of knowledge and experience of the instructors, and found the student body to be exceptionally diverse. Best of all, I was able to pursue my degree while keeping the job I love.”

“Our partnership with VCET, one of Vermont’s most innovative institutions supporting emerging tech and entrepreneurs, allows CCO to continue bringing thought leaders into our classrooms and builds on our reputation of providing superior student experiences and networking opportunities for CCO students,” said Johnna Herrick-Phelps, Vice President of Online Learning at Champlain College. “We’re thrilled to offer VCET employees and members preferred tuition in our cutting-edge programs from cybersecurity, blockchain and software development to business, leadership, and more.”

VCET, a 501c3 non-profit, has operated a coworking space and innovation hub in downtown Burlington since 2014. The organization operates the $6M Vermont Seed Capital Fund and works 1:1 with entrepreneurs to help crystallize concepts, assemble teams, craft business models, secure resources, and locate early customers. CCO’s generosity in offering the truED program to VCET’s members, staff, and their families means that continuing education is in reach for many entrepreneurs, remote tech workers, and other members of the business community.
