Recent UVM Graduate, Nicole Mattos-Parodi, Promoted to Marketing Associate at VCET
Burlington, VT (June 4th, 2021) – The Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) is pleased to announce the promotion of Nicole Mattos-Parodi as its new Marketing Associate. Nicole is joining the team to oversee the production of visual and written content for social platforms, communications and marketing channels, and executing strategic projects. This new position is supported by a donation to VCET, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, by People’s United Bank.
“Nicole adds value to our community of entrepreneurs in so many ways,” said Phoebe Lo, Director of Operations and Culture at VCET, “Her skillset, experience, and enthusiasm have already played a role in helping our ecosystem thrive, and she’s just getting started.”
A May 2021 international graduate from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Vermont, Nicole earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Communications. She is from Lima, Peru but lived and grew up in multiple countries throughout her life, six to be exact, and is fluent in Spanish, English, and Brazilian Portuguese. She has extensive experience and knowledge in international communications and creating interpersonal relationships while acknowledging cultural differences and sensitivity. Prior experiences include working as a Social Science Researcher and at the Center for Rural Studies at UVM, where she created a comprehensive research paper and handbook on best outreach practices in order to connect with immigrant communities in Chittenden county amid COVID-19 safety and prevention.
Nicole applied to VCET’s Marketing Associate position through Handshake, a platform that connects organizations with student interns, which is made easier by the ongoing collaboration between VCET and the UVM Career Center. She says, “UVM made it incredibly easy for me to network with different local employers. When I found the position at VCET on Handshake, I was not only immediately drawn to the position, but also VCET’s support for entrepreneurial success and the overall environment and accessibility of the organization.”
