Nicole Eaton promoted to Marketing and Communications Manager

Burlington, VT (November 29, 2023) – The Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies (VCET) is proud to announce the promotion of Nicole Eaton to the position of Marketing and Communications Manager, effective November 16, 2023.

Eaton’s promotion recognizes her impactful role as VCET’s Marketing Associate since August 2022, as well as the organization’s need for additional support as it continues to scale. In the last year alone, VCET served over 300 entrepreneurs and secured $24 million in evergreen capital. Nicole will be a key player on the path ahead, scaling VCET’s marketing and communications strategies to better serve Vermont’s startup community.

“We could not be more excited to bring Nicole on full-time,” said VCET Vice President Sam Roach-Gerber. “For over a year, she has added immeasurable value not only to our team but to the companies we work with every day. While her marketing and communications skills are of great value, it is her enthusiasm for our mission, positive spirit, and unwavering kindness that truly set her apart.”

Amid diverse company investments, coworking operations, podcasts, and events, Eaton ensures clear messaging across sectors and channels. Her goal is to provide constant support to Vermont’s most exciting technology startups, while clearly defining VCET’s identity within the startup community and beyond.

“We’re more than just a coworking space or a group of venture capitalists,” said Eaton. “We produce podcasts, host tech meetups, and meet with any founder regardless of whether they’re in our circle or not.”

As Marketing Associate, Eaton oversaw social media, hosted informational sessions for student groups, shaped the messaging of various financial and investment reports, and facilitated educational workshops and meetups.

“VCET prioritizes its people, which is what drew me in initially. As a full-time team member, it is my responsibility to invest in our colleagues and companies, reciprocating the support Sam and Dave gave me,” Eaton said. “I look forward to expanding VCET’s presence and further connecting with the tech startup community in Vermont and beyond.”

A recent graduate of the University of Vermont with a B.S. in Public Communication, Eaton’s journey with VCET began as an original member and director of the Academic Research Commercialization (“ARC”) program. Her year of coworking in the space laid the foundation for her role as Marketing Associate in August 2022.

VCET now has three full-time employees for the first time in eight years, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s growth and impact on Vermont’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
