Izzy Shasha, Co-Founder Sundae Month

WHO? Izzy Shasha!

ROLE? One of three owners/cofounders of Sundae Month. Their primary role is to write & produce video games, but also balances this by managing much of the administrative work and social media content.

SUNDAE MONTH? A video game company that seeks to make games as friends rather than as workers. Sundae Month began nearly four years ago at Champlain College. Fundamentally, they are a company that wants to do challenging artistic work with people they know, but in a fun and commercially sustainable fashion.

BIGGEST WIN IN THE PAST YEAR? Izzy attributes their biggest entrepreneurial win to Sundae Month’s first major commercial success, Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor. This game won Best Story/World Design at NDK 2016, a renowned anime & game convention in Denver. This is an anti-adventure game where you live through the life of a janitor in space, where free-exploration of the immense world can be both rewarding and damning. The avant-narrative challenges social constructs such as gender and class hierarchy through a surreal, retro-futuristic lens.HOW? Izzy cites that “family and friends are the lifeline” behind Sundae’s success.

SUSHI or PIZZA? Both! Izzy is an omnivore and believes that pineapple doesbelong on pizza, and can coexist peacefully with ham and the rest of the pizza.

ASPIRATIONS? Izzy aspires to run their own company and have their own studio one day.
