About the Executive Sleep Out and Student Sleep Out 2020

Each year, adults and students join the Spectrum Sleep Out in solidarity with homeless young adults in Vermont. These courageous individuals sleep outside for one night and raise money to keep Spectrum’s doors open for the next young adult looking for help.

Their goal is to raise $250,000 to provide homeless and at-risk youth the services they need to build future success and independence. The event requires so few expenses that 98% of every dollar will go directly to help our youth. Sponsorship opportunities are available; please contact Charlotte  at csteverson@spectrumvt.org or (802) 864-7423 x330 to learn more.

“[The most impactful part of the night was] listening to the [youth speaker] tell her story. It was an emotional experience for me. I have lived in this community my entire life and in my youth felt that I had no one to support and encourage me. My father died when I was 15 and my mother was an alcohol and drug addict. Hearing that Spectrum could have been a safe, caring, supportive place for me to turn was an enlightening moment for me. I was inspired by the young woman […] to go back to college at 36 and complete my under graduate degree. I hope she knows how inspired [we] were by her courage and advocacy.” – 2018 Sleep Out Participant
