Colin Foster, Brand/Product Manager
SWIM.systems
WHO? Colin Foster
ROLE: Colin is a Brand/Product Manager for SWIM.systems. He assists in brand development, design, and business strategy behind the product and service development.
SWIM.systems: A digital platform with industry best-practices and optional concierge services that assists business owners in managing their web information such as emails, hosting information, password profiles, and any other information associated with their business online. In addition to helping businesses identify, access, and control their web assets, Colin adds that “we provide help to small businesses with all of their online endeavors”. The company is currently in the development stage, though recent successes have them feeling good about the future.
BIGGEST WIN IN THE PAST YEAR: Colin cites that a big piece of the last year was taking the existing SWIM.systems platform and changing it through a major design phase. “The old version was fairly rudimentary, and we’re not completely done yet…” Colin says, “but coming up with a plan and mission has been key.” Colin’s partner is VCET member Andrew Allen, and both are engaged and excited about their current project with Neutral Zone out of Rutland, a hockey recruiting resource.
HOW? Colin outlines that “it feels like I’ve had a consistent knack for seeking out the problems and projects that I want to work on… I’ve been able to use that as a consistent source of motivation to find a position where I can be the most valuable”. Colin has done lots of different work, and finding where he belongs has been a continual process. In nutshell, Colin believes that learning strengths and weaknesses is essential for being effective in the workplace. “I’ve been looking for rewarding work, and having the capacity to help people through critical-thinking and problem-solving makes [this job] really great”
CAN SEE THE FUTURE… Could take a few years, but Swim will be operating in 3 or 4 different cities across the northeast. The early ideas will have grown into a larger business platform, and they will help small businesses across the US. “We want to nail it here in VT, and replicate… we’ll have a team of 10 employees and I’ll be the boss”, Colin laughs.
WHAT WERE YOU FOR HALLOWEEN? Colin was a human ladybug for halloween. “I got my dance on”, he says.
FUN: Colin Foster is pumped to get back outside and start fly-fishing. He taught himself how last year and wants to get out on the beautiful VT rivers to get a whole season in the books. He wants to marry his passion for motorcycles, photography, and painting with one dream-like day. You should ask him about it 😉
